Shutdown Control Center, LAX Modernization and Expansion Program at Los Angeles International Airport– Los Angeles, CA

Large building under construction at LAX.

One element of the $14.3 billion capital improvement program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the Shutdown Control Center (SCC) which manages and coordinates utility and area shutdowns necessitated by on-going construction and maintenance work. The SCC ensures that all stakeholders are notified, that concurrent projects do not interfere with each other and that impacts to daily operations and the traveling public are minimized.

Pacifica’s role is to coordinate and process area and utility shutdowns, entering detailed information into SharePoint. Pacifica is responsible for the continuous flow of Utility Shutdown Requests (USR) and Area Shutdown Requests (ASR) through the review and approval processes. We maintain USR/ASR tracking logs, status logs and the master calendar and are responsible for checking that information entered into the system is accurate. We maintain and update all documentation associated with the USRs/ASRs through the review and final approval process, send out approval notifications, check on the status of shutdowns and close out USR/ASRs.
