I-105 ExpressLanes Project – Los Angeles Basin, CA

Southern California is known, among other reasons, for its high levels of traffic congestion. One of the mitigation measures utilized by LA Metro is to create ExpressLanes, which are toll lanes that charge tolls depending on the number of riders in the vehicle and the level of congestion during the time of travel.

The I-105 Express Lanes Project will convert two of the existing HOV lanes to ExpressLanes, and add one additional ExpressLane in each direction. These lanes will run from the I-405 freeway in Los Angeles to Studebaker Road in Norwalk, and will be separated from general purpose lanes by a 2 foot buffer. The project also includes construction of a new overhead tolling system and signage, and other improvements including soundwall and auxiliary lanes.
