The Hollywood Burbank Airport’s existing terminal building is 85 years old and does not meet current seismic requirements, FAA runway safety area requirements or runway separation standards. In order to remedy these problems, a new terminal will be constructed in the northeast quadrant of the airport, across from the current terminal.

The new 355,000 sf terminal will feature a “Icon” concept inspired by the glamour of Hollywood; recognizing the film industry’s roots in Burbank. The design is intended to be reminiscent of a silver screen and includes a sweeping roof canopy that becomes the facade of the airport parking structure. The new terminal will have two levels plus a basement, and will include many improvements over the current terminal including:

  • Larger, indoor baggage claim facilities

  • A variety of restaurants and concessions

  • Improved restrooms, family restrooms and a lactation room

  • Wider corridors and more spacious waiting areas

  • Up-to-date TSA facilities for passenger and baggage security screenings

  • Improved ticket lobby and airline check-in and baggage drop-off facilities

  • Adequate space for airline administrative, bag service, and ticket offices

  • More room for airline baggage processing

  • Fully integrated designs for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility
