Azusa/Amar Intersection Widening–Utility & Infrastructure Realignment Project – West Covina, CA

Crowded street with cement truck and multiple construction workers digging trenches. Heavy traffic, buildings and fast food restaurants surrounding construction site.

The intersection of Azusa Avenue and Amar Road is one of the busiest intersections within the City of West Covina. In order to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance commuter safety, the City of West Covina undertook the $2.4M Azusa/Amar Intersection Widening– Utility and Infrastructure Realignment project.

The project increased vehicle capacity at the intersection, adding travel lanes on all approaches. These new lanes required relocation and reconfiguration of the existing medians, relocation of curbs and gutters, modifications of traffic signals, relocation of utilities, striping, landscaping and signage.

Pacifica provided construction management, inspection services, and outreach on this project. The team provided coordination and developed strong working relationships with impacted businesses, residents, local agencies, utility agencies and other stakeholders involved in the project. Pacifica staff also provided constructability reviews, traffic control, SWPPP, ADA compliance, as well as issues tracking and management.
